Vineyard rows receding into low hills at golden hour

Sonoma County · Estate grown since 1978

Wine made slowly,
from one hillside.

Forty acres of dry-farmed cabernet and chardonnay above the Russian River. Tastings by reservation, seven days a week.

Our Philosophy

We farm one hillside and we have never bought a grape. Some years that means less wine than we would like. Every year it means the bottle tells you exactly where it came from.

— Elena Marchetti, Winemaker

The Estate

West-facing hillside vineyard on thin rocky soil

The Land

Forty acres on a west-facing slope of decomposed shale, planted between 1978 and 1994. Thin soil and no irrigation mean small berries, deep colour, and yields that would make an accountant nervous.

Hands holding freshly picked wine grapes

The Farming

Dry-farmed and certified organic since 2006. We cover-crop between rows, run sheep through in winter, and pick by hand in the cool hours before sunrise.

Old concrete fermentation tanks in a dim cellar

The Cellar

Native fermentation in concrete and neutral oak. Minimal handling, no fining, light filtration only when the wine asks for it. The cellar is eleven degrees year-round without help.
